I've recently been tasked with putting audio files on a website. The brief includes making sure the files are unable to be downloaded.
Has anyone got suggestions for methods or experience with securing web-based audio files? You know, of course, that all audio files put on your website will be able to be copied by someone with only a modicum of technical savvy, right? So even if it is possible to prevent the actual files themselves from being downloaded, someone with recording software will be able to record any sound being played by their computer.
I'm thinking of recording software such as Freecorder. You might be up against unreasonable specifications. How concerned are they about distribution? I mean, you can try a streaming service like [shudder] real player - but you're going to alienate a lot of people. Of course, there's nothing stopping me or anyone else from recording the audio that I'm listening to. Perhaps you should find out how much the authors of the brief really know about the Internet, and how concerned they are about different types of distribution and why - once you have a bigger picture view, you may be able to find a solution.
You mean in such a way that you can listen to them in your browser but not download? That's impossible. There will always be some way of capturing the network traffic of a stream. How difficult do you want to make it? Flash-based mp3 player, such as that used in podPress. Download difficulty: if you can read HTML source and javascript, you're in.
Flash-based mp3 player with embedded mp3. As long as the file to be downloaded is in the same folder as the HTML file, you just need to use the name and extension. If the file is located in another folder, you'll need to include the folder structure.
Create a download button instead of a link. You can use an image instead of text to create the download link.
This requires a button image already on your web server. Rename the downloaded file. This can make it easier for users to identify files that they download from you. Save the changes to your HTML file. Once you're satisfied with your code, save the changes to your HTML file and reupload it if necessary. You'll be able to see your new download button live on your website.
Method 2. Open your site in the WordPress site editor. If you use WordPress to manage and publish your website, you can use the built-in tools to add a download link to any of your pages. Log into your WordPress dashboard using the admin account. Place your cursor where you want the link to appear. You can put the link in the middle of an existing paragraph or create a new line for it.
Click the "Add Media" button. You'll find this above the posting tools at the top of the page. Click the "Upload Files" tab and then drag the file into the window. You can upload a variety of different files, but WordPress may limit the size based on your account type.
It may take a little while to upload files, as most connections are slower uploading than downloading. Add a description for the file. You can enter a description underneath the file in the Add Media window. This will be the text that displays as the download link. This will insert the download link at the location of your cursor.
Note that this will link to an attachment page and not the actual file. This is a limitation of the WordPress software. Method 3. Open your website in the Weebly editor. Log into the Weebly site and open your web page in the Weebly editor. Select the text or object that you want to turn into a link. You can highlight text in a text field or select an image on your page that you want to turn into the download link for your file.
Click the "Link" button. When you have text selected, this looks like a chainlink, and can be found at the top of the text editor. When you have an image selected, click "Link" in the image control panel. Select "File" and then click "upload a file. Select the file you want to make available for download.
Once you select the file, it will begin uploading. Basic users are limited to files 5 MB and smaller. Premium users have a MB file size limit. Publish your site to see the new link. Step 2. Step 6. Tap on Download to download audio files from websites and the downloaded audio would be saved in the Downloads folder. This tool can help you rip both music and video from websites.
The second method is using an online helper. In addition to download audio from link, SaveMP3 also can be used as a music search engine that allows you to search for the desired music by song name or artist name. Step 3.
